Quantifying Complexity in the Minority Game
نویسندگان
چکیده
A Lempel-Ziv complexity measure is introduced into the theory of a Minority Game (MG) in order to capture some features that volatility, one of the central quantities in this model of interacting agents, is not able to. Extracted solely from the binary string of outcomes of the game complexity offers new and valuable information on collective behavior of players. Also, we show that an expression for volatility may be included in the analytical expression for complexity. PACS: 02.50.Le, 05.40.-a, 05.65.+b, 87.23.Ge

On the Computational Complexity of the Domination Game
The domination game is played on an arbitrary graph $G$ by two players, Dominator and Staller. It is known that verifying whether the game domination number of a graph is bounded by a given integer $k$ is PSPACE-complete. On the other hand, it is showed in this paper that the problem can be solved for a graph $G$ in $mathcal O(Delta(G)cdot |V(G)|^k)$ time. In the special case when $k=3$ and the...
متن کاملAlgorithmic Complexity in Minority Game
In this paper we introduce a new approach for the study of the complex behavior of Minority Game using the tools of algorithmic complexity, physical entropy and information theory. We show that physical complexity and mutual information function strongly depend on memory size of the agents and yields more information about the complex features of the stream of binary outcomes of the game than v...

متن کاملCan a Minority Game Follow Real Market Dynamics?
It is commonly known in economics that markets follow both positive and/or negative trends, crashes and bubble effects. In general a strong positive trend is followed by a crash. Famous examples of these effects were seen in the recent crash on the NASDAQ (April 2000) and prior to the crash on the Hong Kong market, which was associated with the Asian crisis in the early 1994. In this paper we u...
متن کاملSimulation and Evaluation of Urban Development Scenarios Using Integration of Cellular Automata Model and Game Theory
Urban growth is a dynamic and evolutionary spatial and social process that relates to the changes of urban spatial units and the transformation of people’s lifestyles and consequently demographic changes. Considering the urban development process as a function of land uses interactions, population structure and the strategic behavior of the agents involved in the urban development process (the ...
